Update: One of two suspects on Canada-wide warrant in custody

Anyone who sees Daniel Atem is advised not to make contact with the suspect, but rather to contact the Regina Police Service.

REGINA —

One of two suspects wanted for first-degree murder in a July 2023 homicide is now in custody.

Thirty-five year-old Shedrek Samuel turned himself into RCMP in British Columbia over the weekend. He was transported to Regina late Monday evening, Feb. 19, and appeared in Regina Provincial Court Tuesday morning.

Samuel and Daniel “Juma” Drie Atem were both wanted in relation to a homicide which occurred on July 29, 2023, in the 2100 block of Broad Street. Atem remains at large. He is described as having a dark complexion, thin build, six foot three, roughly 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who knows of the whereabouts of Daniel Atem is asked to contact police. If you see Atem, do not approach him, but, rather, contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
