On Monday, Brett Worm was sentenced in Lloydminster Provincial Court to 1,057 days. On July 24, Janeen Bereti-Moody was also sentenced to 1,057 days.

LLOYDMINSTER, Sask., – Two people charged with firearms and drug trafficking offences after being arrested in a high-risk traffic stop were each sentenced to 1,057 days in prison, or 2.8 years.

On Monday, 30-year-old Brett Edwin Worm of Saskatoon was sentenced in Lloydminster Provincial Court to 545 days. His co-accused Ruben Almenares Strongquill was sentenced to 15 days. And all charges against a third accused, 34-year-old Janeen Lilian Bereti-Moody of Edmonton, were withdrawn. When the Crown withdraws charges, they discontinue the prosecution, and those same charges can never be brought back before the court.

The three were arrested on March 9 after Battlefords RCMP notified Lloydminster RCMP that they spotted a vehicle with a confirmed stolen license plate driving at a high rate of speed towards Lloydminster.

Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) located the vehicle coming into the city. Using multiple resources, Lloydminster GIS, Lloydminster RCMP general duty members, and Lloydminster RCMP Police Dog Services conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested the three occupants.

Police say the vehicle was stolen out of Edmonton.

Inside the vehicle, police seized a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, 2.66 oz of suspected methamphetamine, and a small amount of suspected fentanyl.

Story corrected to say the charges were withdrawn against Janeen Bereti-Moody and not against Ruben Strongquill.
