Former Sask. youth worker charged with child porn offences back in court

Alberta ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation believe there may be more victims in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

EDMONTON – A former Saskatchewan youth worker is expected back in court on May 15 to enter an election and plea. He is out of custody.

Abraham Woo, 28, was arrested earlier this year in Alberta and charged with child luring, making child pornography, possession of child pornography, and distributing child pornography.

Woo had access to children in Saskatchewan and Alberta, say Alberta ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) and investigators believe there may be more victims. ALERT say the offences were first reported to Saskatchewan ICE in January and associated to an investigation by Fort Qu’Appelle Saskatchewan RCMP.

The alleged offences took place over the social media applications Snapchat and Facebook. ALERT says Woo has been known to use the aliases Abraham Calling Bear Woo, Abraham Collingwood, and his Snapchat handle WolfBoy22.

ICE’s investigation, which included a forensic examination of computers and electronic devices seized from Woo’s home, has led ICE to believe there may be additional victims.

Woo worked with children at Pasqua First Nations Education as a youth worker and education assistant; Edmonton Bent Arrow Society as a lodge keeper; Shadow Dragon Youth Group Home as a group home staff member; Leduc Boys and Girls Club as a youth programs coordinator; and for Pa Metawe Games in the youth camps.

Among the child sexual abuse materials, ICE identified photos that appear to have been taken in a locker room facility. ICE released a censored version of these photos in hopes of identifying the location and/or possible child victim.

Anyone with information about this offence is asked to contact their local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-TIPS (8477).

ALERT was established and is funded by the Alberta Government and is a compilation of the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources committed to tackling serious and organized crime.
