LA LOCHE – Update Nov. 1: RCMP say that as a result of continued investigation, 20-year-old Shawn Herman from La Loche is charged with uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The weapon related to the above charge has been seized by police.
Shawn Herman has been remanded into custody until his next scheduled appearance in La Loche Provincial Court via CCTV on Nov. 2.
Original story: La Loche RCMP have arrested a man Monday for threats made against a school on social media.
On Oct. 30, La Loche RCMP received multiple reports of online threats against a school in La Loche. Through their investigation, an adult male suspect was identified, located and arrested by La Loche RCMP. No charges have been laid as the investigation is still ongoing.
Police say will provide updates as more information becomes available. At this time there is no risk to the school or public resulting from this incident. If this changes, they will notify the public immediately.
