LA RONGE – La Ronge RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) seized weapons and drugs and arrested two people from Sucker Lake.
On Nov. 21, a search warrant was executed at a home in the Sucker River community of Lac La Ronge Indian Band as part of a drug trafficking investigation. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) assisted.
Officers found a loaded handgun, a quantity of ammunition, approximately 172 grams of crack cocaine, a sum of cash, and other drug paraphernalia.
A 33-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of the proceeds of crime, and failing to provide the necessities of life to a child. Police say they aren’t identifying the accused to protect the identity of the involved child.
A youth, who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged drug trafficking and weapons related offences. The youth is from Richmond Hill, Ontario.
All three appeared in La Ronge Court on Nov. 23.
