MEADOW LAKE – The Meadow Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Team [CRT] recovered a tractor that was stolen out of Wainwright, Alta.

The RCMP CRT team had received information on April 18 that there may be a stolen tractor on a rural property in the R. M. of Loon Lake. Their investigation and surveillance confirmed that the tractor was at the back of a farm yard. A search warrant was executed shortly afterwards and, with the help of Loon Lake Detachment members, the tractor was recovered.

The value of the John Deere tractor is estimated at $126,000. Loon Lake RCMP continue the investigation into potential charges.

“This investigation showed how flexible the RCMP CRT can be,” said S/Sgt Ryan How, Special Emergency Response Team [SERT] Regional Manager North. “While typically focused on gang and gun violence, the Meadow Lake CRT was able to pivot quickly and support people living in a rural location."
