P.A. police need your help to crack 1980 missing person case

Last year PAPS released new information about Robert Wiggin's disappearance.

PRINCE ALBERT – It’s been 43 years since Robert Wiggins disappeared and Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is renewing its request to the public for information.

Robert Wiggins was last seen in Prince Albert on July 28, 1980, when his close friends dropped him off at a home in the 500 block of 11 Street East in Prince Albert just before sunrise.

PAPS say that investigators maintain communication with Wiggin’s family. Wiggin’s daughter recently told Sgt. Kathy Edwardsen with the Historical Missing Persons Unit, “we will never stop hoping for answers as to what lead to his disappearance.”

The police would like to the public who have provided information about Wiggin’s disappearance so far.

“Any information, no matter how small could further the investigation and help bring closure to Robert’s family,” said Sgt. Edwardsen.

Last year PAPS released new information about Wiggin's disappearance. They say Wiggin's wallet was found along Highway 16 near Radisson in the summer or fall after his disappearance. The wallet still contained $300 in cash and a cheque made out to Robert Wiggins for $67.60. It was turned over to the Radisson RCMP. Police released a photo of the wallet in the hopes that someone will remember locating it near Radisson in 1980, or have information on his whereabouts.

PAPS continue to actively investigate Wiggin's disappearance and believe he was a victim of foul play.

At the time of his disappearance, Robert Wiggins was described as being 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds. If you have information about the disappearance of Robert Wiggins, please contact police at 306-953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Today he would be 71 years old.

Police say that Wiggins had connections to Edmonton at the time of his disappearance.
