MEADOW LAKE – A preliminary hearing has been set for Feb. 15, 2025, for a Buffalo River Dene Nation man charged with second-degree murder in the death of 55-year-old Nathan George Bekkattla
The hearing, to will determine if there is enough evidence for Nathan Billette, 41, to stand trial, was scheduled at his May 15 appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
Billette is still in custody. He was charged after Dillon RCMP got a report of an injured person at a home on Buffalo River Dene Nation at about 6:40 a.m. on Sept. 13, 2023.
Police say an altercation occurred between two men. EMS declared Bekkatla deceased at the scene.
