Prince Albert police euthanize injured deer in the city

Police found a young deer that was unable to walk due to severe leg injuries.

PRINCE ALBERT – Prince Albert police had to use a firearm to euthanize a deer after it was found injured in the city Monday morning.

Police say that someone from the public contacted them at about 6:45 a.m. saying an injured deer was in distress just past the area of 15th Street and 15th Avenue East. When police arrived, they found a young deer that was unable to walk due to severe leg injuries.

Deer are typically most active in the early morning hours and around dusk each day. Anyone who encounters an injured animal in distress can also contact Saskatchewan Environment at 1-800-667-7561 or the Prince Albert Police Service at 306-953-4222.
