MEADOW LAKE – Police seized a sawed-off semi-automatic firearm, ammo, and cocaine, following a traffic stop in Meadow Lake around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 20.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team (CRT) conducted the traffic stop as part of an ongoing investigation. They observed open alcohol in plain view in the vehicle and the occupants were arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, officers seized a sawed-off semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine, ammunition, and a small quantity of cocaine.
Kane Long, 18, from Lloydminster, and old Doris Jeanine Montgrand, 38, from Meadow Lake, were each charged with unlicensed possession of restricted firearm with readily available ammunition, careless use of a firearm, carry a concealed weapon, and possession of firearm with tampered serial number. The driver was also issued tickets for having open alcohol in a vehicle and driving without a license.
Long and Montgrand are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Nov. 27.
