RCMP identify and arrest suspect in Melfort gas station robbery

MELFORT - Melfort RCMP have identified and arrested a man involved in a robbery at a gas station last week.

Twenty-five-year-old Blaze Romeo Rynelle Ahpay of Melfort was arrested at a home in Melfort without incident on April 4. He is charged with robbery with a weapon, disguised with intent to commit an offence, and possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence.  

Melfort RCMP say that a gas station on Saskatchewan Avenue in Melfort was robbed around 11:20 p.m. on March 31. Police say that Ahpay entered the business, threatened an employee with a knife and left with a sum of cash and cigarettes. Ahpay then fled on foot. No injuries were reported to police.

Officers immediately responded and began looking for him with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services.

Ahpay appeared in Melfort court April 5.
