REGINA – A Regina man was arrested and charged for repeatedly violating a court order condition to not be around youth under 16 years of age.
The first incident occurred just after 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 16 when an unknown male was seen at a high school in the 1000 block of College Avenue speaking with students.
An hour later, the same man entered a high school on the 1200 block of College Avenue, again speaking with students at that school.
“The male was ushered off school grounds by school staff,” said RPS in a media release. “The incidents were reported to RPS School Resource Officers who began an investigation.”
Later that morning, police received a report of a male causing a disturbance at two businesses on the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue.
“Information suggested the male had attempted to shoplift items from one of the businesses,” RPS said. “When patrol members arrived, the male had left.”
Between the patrol members and School Resource Officers, police were able to link the incidents to the same man, who is under a court-ordered condition not to attend areas where people under the age of 16 are present or expected to be present.
The 34-year-old was charged with two counts failure to comply with a prohibition order regarding children, and four counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
He was remanded into police custody over the weekend and made a first court appearance on Feb. 21.
