The Regina Drug Unit, supported by the SWAT team arrest suspects.

REGINA —Police say they have arrested three people as a result of an investigation into drug trafficking in the city of Regina.

The Regina Drug Unit, supported by Regina Police Service Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team, conducted enforcement on suspects trafficking a large amount of cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl on Thursday, May 30.

In the early afternoon, three suspects were arrested. Two of these suspects were arrested in the 100 block of Froom Crescent, where a search yielded significant quantities of substances believed to be:

  • 4.0 kilograms of fentanyl,
  • 2.25 kilograms of cocaine,
  • 6.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, and
  • more than $29,000 in Canadian currency.
  • Subsequent search warrants were executed on the 500 block of University Park Drive. Searches 0.5 kilogram of of fentanyl,
  • 99.72 grams of cocaine,
  • 0.5 kilogram of methamphetamine, and
  • more than $5,000 in Canadian currency.

Four and a half kilograms of fentanyl is significant, say police, as extremely small quantities of this drug can be lethal. The estimated street value of all of the seized drugs is believed to be well over $1 million.

As a result, a 23 year old, a 20 year old and a 19 year old are jointly charged with:

  • possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);
  • possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine);
  • possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl); and
  • possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Friday, May 31.
