PRINCE ALBERT – Sentencing for a youth found guilty in the stabbing death of 47-year-old Barry Pruden has been pushed to June 13 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
In May, the 15-year-old youth who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentencing was set for June 5.
Court heard that around 10 p.m. May 28, 2022, Barry Pruden and his daughter were riding their bikes downtown when they were confronted by several individuals. Video evidence showed three people jog one at a time across the street from the riverside towards Pruden and his daughter. The group stalked Barry Pruden up and down River Street as he walked backwards brandishing the gardening tool. At least three people participated in the attack.
Medical evidence showed that Pruden was stabbed in the head, chest, and arm. He had two stab wounds to the chest that pierced a lung with one piercing his heart.
Pruden was taken to Victoria Hospital and pronounced deceased.
