Shooting: RCMP search for two youths charged with attempted murder

Meadow Lake RCMP are examining a provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act that allows the publication of a youth’s name under certain circumstances, including when it is necessary to assist in apprehending them.

Investigators believe there are individuals that have knowledge of this incident and of the whereabouts of the two youth. MEADOW LAKE – Meadow Lake RCMP are searching for two youth they have charged and issued warrants for following a shooting at a home on Flying Dust First Nation Tuesday.

Meadow Lake RCMP say that they got a call at approximately 2:30 a.m. on May 16 about the incident. When officers arrived, they found an injured man. He was taken to hospital for treatment of injures described as serious but non-life-threatening.

The police investigation determined that two male youth approached the home and an altercation occurred where shots were fired and the man injured. The youth fled the home.

The injured man was taken to hospital after police arrived and he was last reported to be in stable condition. Police say they won’t be providing further updates on his condition.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford, Saskatoon Provincial General Investigation Sections, and Meadow Lake RCMP investigated and two youth, who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were charged with attempted murder and warrants have been issued for their arrest.

RCMP say that there is a provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act that allows the publication of a youth’s name under certain circumstances, including when it is necessary to assist in apprehending them. Meadow Lake RCMP is currently examining that possibility.
