STANLEY MISSION – A 15-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Walter Ray Wilson Roberts of Stanley Mission.
Stanley Mission RCMP say that they received a report of a seriously injured man at a local community hall at about 2:45 a.m. on May 28. When police arrived, Roberts was found and taken to a hospital where he was later declared deceased.
On May 29, investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Muskeg Crescent in Stanley Mission to recover key evidence of the investigation.
Following a forensic examination that occurred earlier this week, in addition to the information and evidence gathered by investigators, the cause of Robert’s death was determined to be a homicide. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes have taken over the investigation.
The youth, who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted robbery, assault with a weapon [BB air gun], possession of a weapon [knife] while committing an indictable offence, and several other weapons-related offences.
