MEADOW LAKE – A man who was wanted by police, and recently arrested, was released on bail Tuesday in Meadow Lake Provincial Court. He is in court next May 3 to enter a plea.

Kobe Kiseyinewakup was wanted since Feb. 24 and he was arrested by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team on Island Lake Cree Nation March 10.

Pierceland RCMP, Loon Lake RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Service worked together to arrest Kiseyinewakup. Saskatchewan RCMP's North Battleford General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Services assisted in the investigation.

Kiseyinewakup is charged with 11 offences including robbery with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, discharging a firearm while being reckless, and aggravated assault.

Kiseyinewakup’s charges stem from an armed robbery on Deer Lake Trail in Pierceland on Feb. 16. Pierceland RCMP say that a man and a woman were parked in an SUV on the side of the road when two other vehicles approached them. The man got out of the SUV and there was an altercation between him and the people in the other two vehicles. He was shot and his SUV stolen. The couple were able to walk away and call for help. He was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Pierceland RCMP and Loon Lake RCMP searched for the suspects and they found one of the vehicles later that evening on Island Lake First Nation and arrested three people. Police seized two prohibited firearms, ammunition, bear spray, and a machete from the vehicle.

Pierceland RCMP arrested two more people the next day and the stolen SUV was recovered on Mudie Lake First Nation. After further investigation, police issued a warrant for Kiseyinewakup.
