REGINA – Police found themselves in a midst of a high-speed chase after a home invasion on Dec. 6. The call came in just after 1:30 p.m., and police were dispatched to a resident on the 1300 block of Princess Street.
“Early information suggested multiple suspects entered a home and pointed what was believed to be a firearm and bear mace at a resident,” RPS said in a media release. “The suspects were reported to have left the area in a truck.”
A truck matching the description was later discovered parked in the 800 block of Retallack Street with people inside.
“As police approached the vehicle to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle evaded police at a high rate of speed,” RPS said.
They were able to find the vehicle once more on Labelle Place, this time catching the suspects.
“Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and three occupants of the vehicle were taken into police custody,” RPS said. “Police confirmed the vehicle was the same truck used by the suspects to flee the home invasion.”
A vehicle search yielded metal pipes, several knives and a can of bear spray located near the truck.
Three people were taken into custody, facing charges including break, enter and commit; disguise with intent; use of imitation firearm; possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order; careless use of firearm; and flight from police. All three made their first court appearance on Dec. 7.
