LA RONGE – Mary Johnson was found guilty of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose but not guilty of trafficking cocaine, as well as eight other weapons-related offences, and possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.
The judge handed down his decision in La Ronge Provincial Court June 29. Thirty-year-old Johnson, from Lac La Ronge Indian Band, is scheduled to be sentenced July 10.
A stay of proceedings was entered for Johnson’s co-accused Floyd Ratt, 34, of Lac La Ronge Indian Band on a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was found not guilty on 30 charges including about 22 weapons-related offences, possession of property obtained by crime, and five breach of court order charges.
Johnson and Ratt were arrested in August 2021 after La Ronge RCMP and La Ronge RCMP General Investigation Section executed a search warrant at a trap line south of La Ronge, off Molanosa Road. Police say that when they searched a camper onsite they found three firearms, ammunition, 30 grams of cocaine and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
