Have you ever wondered what happens to unclaimed luggage at airports? Most probably think it get’s tossed out after a certain amount of time, and in some cases it does, however one group seeks out unclaimed luggage and resells the items to the public.
Since 1970, Unclaimed Baggage in Alabama has been collecting luggage that never finds its way home from airports from around the world as a way to curb waste going into landfills. According to store officials, they spend a combined 32,000 hours a year sifting through luggage from all over the world and selling items in their store and online. In the past year, they recovered over two million items that, otherwise, would go unclaimed or thrown away.
