SWIFT CURRENT — Swift Current Municipal RCMP are warning people not to fall for a scammer selling speakers out of his van.

On Jan. 25, Swift Current Municipal RCMP received a report of a male in a grey Chrysler Pacifica van, Alberta license plate A26836, selling home entertainment equipment out of the back of his van. The male claims that the equipment is surplus and is offering it at prices well below the claimed value.

RCMP say this is similar to a common scam called the "White Van Speaker Scam" and often results in people purchasing goods of lesser quality at highly inflated prices based on false information.

Patrols within Swift Current did not locate the male or his van and it is possible he has left the area, however, RCMP would like to remind the public to be cautious when purchasing items from people unknown to them.

If you have any information about this incident, you can call the Swift Current Municipal RCMP at 306-778-4870, your nearest RCMP Detachment by calling 310-RCMP or submit information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also submit a tip online using the P3 App (https://www.p3tips.com/206) or at www.saskcrimestoppers.com..

If you have information related to this advisory please call 310-RCMP for immediate response, or you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
