MAKWA SAHGAIEHCAN – Two people are facing various weapons offences following an arrest on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.
Some of the weapons seized include a homemade conducted energy device.
On Sept. 12, Loon Lake RCMP received information that a wanted man was at a home on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.
The man was wanted on warrants for offences including assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Loon Lake RCMP obtained a warrant to enter the home and, with the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, arrested the man
A woman was also arrested at the scene.
During their subsequent investigation, officers located and seized two firearms, two machetes and a homemade conducted energy device in the home.
As a result of continued investigation, 27-year-old Ethan Swiftwolfe and 41-year-old Rachel Kytwayhat from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation are each charged with: resist police officer; possession of weapon contrary to order; and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Swiftwolfe is charged with one additional count of possession of weapon contrary to order.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Sept. 16.
