Littlewolfe charged with weapons-related offences

Alberta RCMP arrested Courtlin Littlewolfe and two women on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster

LLOYDMINSTER – Alberta RCMP arrested three people on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster and charged them with firearms-related offences.

According to court documents obtained by SASKTODAY.ca, 36-year-old Courtlin Littlewolfe of Onion Lake, Sask., 18-year-old Rene Singer of Lloydminster, Alta., and 34-year-old Crystal Heathen of Lloydminster, Sask., were arrested on Sept. 13. Lloydminster is Canada's only border city. The RCMP station is on the Alberta side and also serves the Saskatchewan side. Each province, however, has its own courthouse in Lloydminster.

Littlewolfe was charged with possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and possession of a loaded non-restricted firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a non-restricted firearm without a license, storing prohibited firearm and non-restricted firearm in careless manner, possession of readily accessible ammunition, possession of a firearm and ammunition while prohibited, and resisting a peace officer.

Littlewolfe made his first appearance in Lloydminster, Sask., circuit court on Sept. 15. Representing himself, he appeared by phone from the Lloydminster RCMP cells and was remanded in custody. North Battleford Crown Prosecutor Brynn Achtymichuk is opposed to Littlewolfe’s release.

Judge Murray Pelletier adjourned Littlewolfe’s matter to Sept. 19 when he is scheduled to appear by CCTV from the correctional centre for a show cause hearing.

Judge Pelletier also issued a no communication order against Littlewolfe prohibiting him from contacting Rene Singer and Crystal Heathen.

Singer and Heathen face seven weapons-related offences and also made their first appearance in court on Sept. 15.

The charges against the accused haven’t been tested in court.
