On March 12 at approximately 1 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle.
PRINCE ALBERT - Two people have been arrested after a stolen vehicle repeatedly evaded police.
On March 12 at approximately 1 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle.
The investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from outside a business south of the City of Prince Albert. Just after 3 a.m., Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) observed the vehicle driving in the city of Prince Albert and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop, hit a police vehicle and fled. A PAPS officer located it again later in the morning. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver put it into motion, dragging the officer for a short distance. The PAPS officer was not seriously injured.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP located the vehicle on Sturgeon Lake First Nation. Officers attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and fled. Officers continued attempts to pull it over. The vehicle entered a ditch. The passenger was arrested. The driver fled on foot but was later arrested without incident.
PAPS and Saskatchewan RCMP officers with Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan assisted with this investigation.
As a result of continued investigation into the incidents in Saskatchewan RCMP jurisdiction, a 36-year-old man, from Prince Albert, is charged with:
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and
- one count, flight from peace officer.
A 25-year-old man, from Prince Albert, is charged with:
- one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
- one count, flight from peace officer;
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer; and
- two counts, fail to comply with release order condition.
They were scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on March 13.
