ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Kinette Club showed their support for people in the community Feb. 8 during the annual Kin Kindness Day.
An email from the Kinette Club says the day is a means for members and clubs to make people smile while thanking the community for its ongoing support. The day is also a way to celebrate and honour Kin Canada's 105-year history of fulfilling its motto, Serving the Community's Greatest Need.
Local Kinettes delivered flowers to the Estevan Regional Nursing Home, Hill View Manor, Creighton Lodge and the long-term care area at St. Joseph's Hospital. They purchased feminine products for the Salvation Army in Estevan, bought supplies for the Estevan Humane Society, purchased gift cards for sober living participants, and packed groceries and bought reusable bags for customers at the Southern Plains Co-op's Estevan grocery store.
Most Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin Clubs will be celebrating Kin Kindness Day on Feb. 22, but many local Kinette members will be busy that day, and so instead of skipping the day completely, they decided to spread some kindness early. Kin Canada was founded on Feb. 20, 1920, and the Kin Kindness Day is held as close to the anniversary as possible.
