A hot Wednesday results in several Sask. temperature records

Environment Canada reports several new historic highs on Aug. 31.

The thermometers have been going up and up this week in Saskatchewan, as August turns into September.

REGINA — Environment Canada is reporting that several new temperature records were set on Wednesday in Saskatchewan. 

According to their release on Thursday, the following areas set daily maximum temperature records on Aug. 31:

Elbow - new record at 35.2 C, old record of 35C set in 1991,

Hudson Bay area -  new record 32.6 C, old record was 32.2 C set in 1961, 

Lucky Lake area - new record 35.7 C, old record 34.4 C set in 2007, 

Maple Creek area - new record of 35.5 C, old record of 35 C set in 1940, 

Meadow Lake area - new record of 30.7 C, old record of 30.6 C set in 1961, 

Rockglen area - new record of 34.5 C, old record of 33.4 C set in 2016. 

Note that Environment Canada says this is not a final report and may contain preliminary or unofficial information. Another hot day is expected in Saskatchewan Thursday, with temperatures in the 30s and heat warnings in effect.
