Two veterans of the team, Chase Kradovill and Carson Baumgartner, spoke about the potential for the Eagles team.

WEYBURN - Football players for the Weyburn Comprehensive Eagles hit Darold Kot Field recently. The WCS Eagles will have a pre-season game in Winnipeg on Friday, September 1.

Two veterans of the team, Chase Kradovill and Carson Baumgartner, spoke about the potential for the Eagles team.

“I am looking forward to having a good time with the guys. Lot of them played really great last year, and I hope we play good this year.,” said Kradovill.

“We ended up losing in provincial finals last year, so we are hoping to make that correct. It should be another intense season,” added Baumgartner.

“Lots of teams are already looking to bring us down, so it should be very competitive.”

Both veterans are excited about the upcoming pre-season game in Winnipeg.

“I am looking forward to the atmosphere (of Winnipeg), and playing in a stadium like that,” said Kradovill.

“I am looking forward to showing Manitoba some good ole’ Saskatchewan football, and give them  a good fight and hopefully come out on top,” added Baumgartner.

The regular season will start with a game under the lights in Estevan on Friday, September 8.

“I expect Estevan to put up a good battle, and have a lot of heart during the game,” said Kradovill.

“It will be a good game. It is always cool to play under the lights,” added Baumgartner. “Estevan is a good competitive team, and I think they will hold the best that they can.”

With a good mix of veterans in the locker room, and core base of Grade 11 and rookie Grade 10 players, the team is “ready to compete for the year,” according to Kradovill.

“You can see that a lot of the players cared during the off-season and they are ready to play. It looks like it will be another good season,” said Baumgartner.

The teams that compete against the WCS Eagles in the 5A Rural South League include: Estevan, Swift Current, Yorkton Vanier, Moose Jaw Peacock, and Moose Jaw Central.
