LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. – A man with a prohibited weapon was arrested by police near a public event in the area of 49th Avenue and 46 Street. Police didn't specify if the male was an adult or a youth.
Lloydminster RCMP say that at about 11:45 a.m. on June 21, they had numerous calls from the public about a male with a gun.
Police attended the location and conducted a tactical arrest of the male suspect due to the high-risk nature of the call and potential danger to the general public. Police seized a prohibited weapon from the suspect, as well as evidence that the suspect had been in possession of an imitation firearm.
Police believe that the suspect discarded the imitation firearm prior to police arriving. Charges are currently pending against the suspect.
