Saskatoon police make arrests in two 2009 homicides

SASKATOON - The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section has charged a 32-year-old man in connection to two homicides that occurred in 2009.

On Jan. 1, 2009, police responded to the 300 block of Avenue T South for a report that two men had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old man and 22-year-old Spencer Whiteman suffering from life-threatening stab wound injuries. The first male survived; however, Spencer Whiteman died from his injuries. 

On Nov. 16, 2009, police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Avenue H South for a report that a man had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located 33-year-old Morgan Doucette suffering from life-threatening stab wound injuries, which he did not survive.

On April 12, 2023, Major Crime investigators attended Grande Cache, Alberta and charged a 32-year-old man with two counts of first degree murder. This male was 17-years-old at the time of the first homicide and 18-years-old at the time of the second homicide.

The 32-year-old man will make his first court appearance at the Saskatoon Provincial Court via video from Alberta on Thursday, April 13 at 9:30 a.m.
