Stolen vehicle leads to robbery and firearms charges

Suspect arrested without incident, police say.

REGINA – A report of a stolen vehicle resulted in a string of charges for a Regina man over the weekend.

Just after 7 a.m. on Feb. 25, police were called to the 900 block of Arcola Avenue East about a vehicle that had been stolen.

“Upon arrival, police spoke to the victim who reported her vehicle stolen,” RPS said in a media release. “Police conducted a search of the area, and located the vehicle parked in the 20 block of Vaughn Street.”

Police say a firearm was located in the vehicle, and that the male suspect was arrested without incident.

Colton James Parkes, 25, faces charges of robbery, fail to comply with a condition of release order, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number had been tampered with, and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

Parkes is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Feb. 27.
