LA RONGE – A trial for Tynnielle (Simon) Sanderson, 21, who was arrested following a car jacking, has been set for Dec. 8 in La Ronge Provincial Court. She has been released from custody.
(Simon) Sanderson’s co-accused Sampson Myles Roberts, 23, was remanded in custody after his July 17 appearance. Others accused, including Alicia (Alice) Ernastina Milne, 20, Henry Paul Arthur Sanderson, 25, and a youth who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, also appeared in court July 17.
The five were arrested after a car-jacking on Mikisew Drive in La Ronge at about 8:15 a.m. on May 16. La Ronge RCMP say they forced a woman out of her vehicle and stole it. She didn’t report any physical injuries to police.
La Ronge RCMP located the vehicle on Far Reserve Road and tried stopping it but the driver refused to stop and drove through local streets at a high rate of speed.
Police say there were pedestrians in the residential area and at one point the vehicle, allegedly driven by Roberts, drove at a high rate of speed towards two police officers who were in a marked police vehicle. The driver swerved at the last minute and the officers weren’t injured, and there wasn’t any damage to the vehicle.
Officers found the vehicle in the yard of a residence. The occupants fled on foot and were arrested shortly after without incident. Police found a small bag of suspected cocaine and drug trafficking paraphernalia during the arrest.
Milne, Tynnielle (Simon) Sanderson, Henry Sanderson, and the youth are charged with robbery, resisting a police officer, and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Simon is also charged with failing to comply with a release condition.
Roberts is charged with robbery, dangerous driving, flight from a police officer, two counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, and resisting a police officer, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
