BUFFALO RIVER DENE NATION — A 41-year-old Nathan Billette from the Buffalo River Dene Nation has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in the death of 55-year-old George Bekkattla, also of the Buffalo River Dene Nation.
RCMP say that on Sept. 13, 2023 at approximately 6:40 a.m., the Dillon detachment received a report of an injured person at a residence on the Buffalo River Dene Nation.
Officers immediately responded to the site where investigation determined an altercation occurred between two adult males. One of them had been injured and was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. His family has been notified.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation. Later that morning, Billette was arrested in Dillon in relation to this incident.
