Town of Unity building contract with employees

Council members in Unity completing strategic plan in the new year, planning next big project.

Unity — Unity town council will be completing our strategic plan over the next month. We will set direction for the next big project and plan for smaller goals that we can work toward. The focus is infrastructure and improving what we have. We are also involved in bargaining with our staff. The contract ended at the year-end. Meetings will be taking place over the next few weeks to work on an agreement.

There are petitions out in the community to put pressure on the provincial government and Saskatchewan Health to allow us to choose which pharmacy we use for long-term care residents. Please add your name, even if it doesn't affect you now as it likely will in the future. Both pharmacies offer excellent service to our community and there is no need to change what we have.

The Unity Curling Club donated towards the work done to repair the beams supporting the roof. It is much appreciated and with Biggar having to close their rink, maybe we can import a few more curlers.

Council has been busy helping where needed for Unity. There are numerous committees which council members are dedicated to. Councillors don’t receive any extra compensation for the time it takes to fulfill their obligations.

2024 is an election year. Residents are always welcome to attend council meetings to learn if it might be a position you would be interested in. We look forward to navigating through the coming year with our residents always top of mind.
