P. A. police arrest man during ongoing investigation

There were traffic restrictions in the 1000 block of 8th Street East during the investigation.

PRINCE ALBERT – Update: In the Prince Albert police investigation in the 1000 Block of 8th Street East on July 27, officers from the Prince Albert Police Service and Saskatoon Police Service executed a search warrant at a home.

The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into the city’s second homicide of 2023 which occurred on July 22.  Three people were located in the residence: an 18-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for being unlawfully at large. A man and female were also detained and later released with no charges. At this time there has been no arrests made for the homicide. 

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division, Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Crime Reduction Team, Canine, Combined Traffic Services of Saskatchewan, Proactive Policing Unit and Forensic Identification Section all assisted in the execution of the warrant.

The Prince Albert Police Service wants to thank and acknowledge the Saskatoon Police Service who provided members from the SPS Tactical Support Unit and their Armoured Rescue Vehicle who assisted with this warrant execution.

Prince Albert Police Service say they continue to investigate the homicide and will continue to provide updates.

The Prince Albert Police Service would like to thank the public for avoiding the area.

There will be a continued police presence in the area as the investigation continues, however, there is no danger to the public at this time.

Police say an updated release will be sent out as information becomes available.
