RCMP use non-lethal force to apprehend woman threatening self-harm

On July 21, at approximately 10 p.m., Meadow Lake/Green Lake RCMP received a report of a woman in crisis in Green Lake.

As required by The Police Act, the Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) of the incident.

MEADOW LAKE – Police used non-lethal force to safely bring a woman into custody and connect her with appropriate care after she was threatening to harm herself.

On July 21, at approximately 10 p.m., Meadow Lake/Green Lake RCMP received a report of a woman in crisis in Green Lake.

Officers immediately responded and located the woman, who was threatening self-harm. The woman received non-life-threatening injuries, which were treated in hospital. She has not been charged with any offence.

As required by The Police Act, the Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) of the incident. Following the notification, SIRT’s Civilian Executive Director directed the RCMP to retain conduct of the investigation, and assigned a SIRT Investigator to monitor the investigation. 

Saskatchewan RCMP say they are disclosing this as part of our ongoing commitment to transparency.
